Sights from Newtown Literary Issue #2 Launch

Newtown Literary has posted great photos from last Thursday’s Issue #2 launch event at the monthly REZ Reading series.

It was standing room only at Odradek’s Coffee House. That included me, my partner and two of our friends, even though we arrived a few minutes early. But the authors and the crowd’s positive energy made standing scarcely a hardship.

You can check out photos from the event here.

Newtown Literary Spring/Summer 2013 Available for Purchase

Newtown Literary Issue Two

My short story “The Trouble with Finklesteins” was picked up for publication by Newtown Literary. Now the issue is out and available for purchase here for a mere ten bucks.

Set in my very own neighborhood of Kew Gardens, NY, “The Trouble with Finklesteins” is about a monthly get-together of two longtime friends and flight attendants that exposes hidden jealousies and a terrible secret. A contemporary, realistic story from me? Yes it happens every now and then. I wrote the story some years back during a J.D. Salinger-esque streak.

From their website: “Newtown Literary is dedicated to writers from and writing about Queens, NY and allocates half the journal to these writers and their work.” For more about the journal, visit them here.
