Two Reading Events Coming Up in June!

I guess I have caught the reading bug. I recently signed up to participate in two events in June.

First, I’ll be reading part of my short story “The Trouble with Finklesteins” at the REZ Reading Series June 6th event, 7:30 pm – 9:00 pm, held at Odradeks Coffee House (82-60 Austin Street by the LIRR), right in my neighborhood of Kew Gardens. The REZ Reading Series is a monthly program sponsored by Sullivan Street Press. Their June event will feature local authors from the Queens-based Newtown Literary. I wrote “The Trouble with Finklesteins” a few years back when I was in a contemporary short fiction phase. No feline shapeshifters or ancient worlds, the story focuses on the strained relationship of two thirty-something women and the terrible secret one of them is hiding.

Then, I’m back again reading from The Seventh Pleiade at an exciting, new venue with an ultra-cool name: Bureau of General Services – Queer Division, on June 9th 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm. BGSQD in SoHo (Strange Loop Gallery, 27 Orchard St., New York, NY, 10002) is “a queer bookstore and event space” that hosts regular literary happenings. Their June 9th event features seven Bold Strokes Books authors representing a wide variety of fictional work. You can check out the event below:

Sights and Sounds from Rainbow Book Fair

This past Saturday’s Rainbow Book Fair was fun and energizing!

I wish I had taken more photos, but here’s one from the Bold Strokes Books exhibit booth. Pictured are Joshua Martino (center), author of Fontana, the story of the first gay sports superstar, and Jennifer Lavoie (right), author of Andy Squared, a contemporary gay YA novel.

(Martino is a rather tall gentleman who I had trouble fitting entirely in the picture 🙂 )

IMG_0287Here’s video of my reading from The Seventh Pleiade. The passage is from an early section of the book where the main character Aerander is looking for his cousin Dam. Dam is a novice priest who went missing with two boys named Koz and Leo on the eve of a sacred festival called the Paneygris. Aerander does some sleuthing after a temple ceremony by trying to talk to Hephad, who is one of Dam’s friends in the priesthood.

NY Rainbow Book Fair is tomorrow!!

Rainbow Book FairCome one, come all to the Fifth Annual New York Rainbow Book Fair this Saturday!

The “longest running LGBT book fair in the U.S.,” the Rainbow Book Fair is a great place to find a wide range of LGBT fiction, non-fiction and poetry titles. There will be appearances by Sarah Schulman and Leslea Newman, author panels, readings, exhibit booths and more.

Part of the “and more” is that I will be on an reading panel from 2:30-2:50pm , reading an excerpt from The Seventh Pleiade. Please stop by and say hello. You can also find me at Bold Strokes Books’ exhibit booth from 4:00-5:00pm.

Another “Atlantis” Fall 2013 Release!

I’ve been watching this trend over the past few months.

First, there was the announcement that fantasy author T.A. Barron will release the first title in a planned series: “Atlantis: Rising.”

Then, BBC announced that an epic mini-series “Atlantis” is in production and scheduled for airing in the Fall.

Now there’s the news from British media The BookSeller.com that Penguin and Amber Entertainment will collaborate on a book and film called “Atlantis Revelation.”   Julian Fellowes, the creator of “Downtown Abbey,” will be Executive Producer of the film. The book, scantily described as an “action adventure,” has an anonymous author at this stage.

Fall 2013 is the season for Atlantis, including The Seventh Pleiade by Andrew J. Peters!!

Happy Faces

I was delighted to discover that my upcoming title The Seventh Pleiade is up on Amazon and GoodReads.

It won’t be available until November 19th, and the listings are sorely in need of cover art and other goodies. But you can pre-order the book and/or mark it as “Want to Read.” I’d love it if you would! It was also nice to discover a list of customers who have already added it to their to-read list. 🙂
